Message from ABFO President Peter Hampl
It
is an honor and privilege to accept the presidency of the premier forensic
dental organization in the world for 2008/09. The American Board of Forensic
Odontology (ABFO), since its creation in 1976, has been the leader in the field
of forensic dentistry. In 1994 the ABFO established the identification
guidelines for unidentifiable human remains from dental evidence. In 1995 the
mass fatality dental guidelines were defined. In 2006 the revised bitemark
analysis guidelines were published.
I encourage any dentist, world wide, to apply to become a diplomate of the ABFO. The ABFO is always looking for dedicated individuals to challenge the examination in the proficiency in forensic dentistry. You will find the requirements demanding but rewarding. It is a professional goal that will test the full range of your basic science, dental and legal/justice knowledge. At our last annual meeting in Washington, DC three candidates successfully completed the examination. Our newest diplomates are Drs. Paula Brumit, Kenneth Cohrn and James Lewis.
The ABFO has an extremely talented and knowledgeable membership for those interested in obtaining additional information in forensic dentistry. Whether you are an attorney seeking an expert or a program planner looking for a speaker the ABFO can supply you with the best in the field to meet your demands. Please review this ABFO web page for the necessary information you are seeking.
You are always free to contact me at the contact information noted below.
Sincerely,
Peter F. Hampl, DDS, DABFO
